Enabling remote and underserved communities to thrive!

Digital inclusion is not only central to participating in the economy and society, but it also has the potential to enhance learning and improve the quality of life within our communities.

We specialize in marine skin regeneration and sustainable materials, while supporting coastal and indigenous communities in their efforts to enhance economic resilience and environmental protection. We believe love, inclusion and innovation are key sources in the creation of sustainable, scalable, and replicable business models.

We are proud to be pioneers in Central America. We are not only producing a unique sustainable material, but we are also shaping the future of doing business through innovation and collaboration. We create value by sharing knowledge and technical skills, to design a more sustainable, and locally relevant means of making a living.

Since we started adding value to discarded fish skins in 2020, we’ve trained over 308 women and fishermen across Central America and helped them build their own entrepreneurial model. In the first year, we discovered how time and resource intensive it was to prepare and achieve quality results in each in-person training trip. We needed a digital training environment to help standardize the types of training we were delivering, and an innovative digital tool to ensure adequate quality control, management and traceability data.

Today, after almost three intense and very impactful years, we are ready to drive digital solutions to remote communities using Amazon Web Services (AWS), by delivering high level training via PodPad. Building on our ongoing sustainable, inclusive, and resilient model, as these cooperatives gain technical and practiced competencies in fish skin transformation that are uniquely tailored, flexible, and simple.

PodPad, is built on a serverless infrastructure with an event driven architecture and a recursive database design that provides a user interface and back-end engine upon which pod apps are installed. Apps provide vertical functionality; they can connect with each other organically and extend each other’s models. It includes, AI Learning Management System (LMS), Big data OLAP analysis, SOP tasks grouped by procedures, Multilingual Level Training, and Virtual Reality. It can connect with training content and can associate tasks with user groups, whereby users can interact with the system and ask it questions using natural language through a bot in their own phones.

It supports image, video as well as text content. It also adds a print-ready checklist generator that can work offline.

PodPad’s “PL Sustainable Fish Skin Leather Procedures”, will reduce training time from 2.5 weeks to minutes, improve quality controls, and help expand, scale, and replicate the availability of Pili Luna’s processes around the globe, to generate opportunities for women and fishermen in every coast, and enable remote and undeserved communities to thrive by transforming a previously discarded skin into an exotic and unique sustainable material, while keeping our oceans healthy.
